A parking lot is a parking lot is a parking lot—unless it’s the Summit Racing parking lot. On any given day or time, the lot outside a Summit Racing store can turn into an impromptu mini-car show, depending on who’s stopped by the store. Each Wednesday, we’ll share our parking lot find of the week—another benefit of being Powered by Summit Racing Equipment.
We’ve done the Chevy, Ford, Mopar thing for last few weeks of Lot Shots (Chevelle, Ranchero, GTX). This time around, we’ll stay with the muscle theme but go slightly off the beaten path. We spotted this second-generation Mercury Cougar (1971, we believe) waiting patiently on its owner in the Summit Racing Ohio parking lot. The second-gen Cougar is distinguishable by its larger front grille and four exposed headlights. This one packs a 351 Cleveland engine.

That is kool. Now for some AMC.
Today is Saturday, October 15, 2016 and I recently purchased this Cougar. Would love to know more about its history!
I love 71-73 Cats! They get no love. My mom owned 2 new!I have owned 5 all xr7 hardtop.351C v8 all. Only 1 M code.Beat the living tar out of that one. They actually drive great. They ditched that67-70 power steering mess, and in 71 had a Saginaw variable ratio quick box. Drive a tight and right one, and you will love them. Sequential rear signals too!
