A parking lot is a parking lot is a parking lot—unless it’s the Summit Racing parking lot. On any given day or time, the lot outside a Summit Racing store can turn into an impromptu mini car show, depending on who’s stopped by the store. Each Wednesday, we’ll share our parking lot find of the week—another benefit of being Powered by Summit Racing Equipment.
It’s amazing what you can find lying around in a parking lot.
A little while back, for example, we stumbled upon a hunk of Meteor.
A rather rare sight in the U.S., Meteor was a brand of automobile offered by Ford in Canada in the 1950s and early 60s. Even rarer, the Meteor Ranchero was only offered in 1957 and 1958 and enjoyed very limited sales—only 52 were sold in 1958. That makes this 1959 Meteor Ranchero quite an anomaly, since Meteor didn’t offer Rancheros in 1959.
Our best guess? It’s a 1959 Ford Ranchero with Meteor badging.

Absolutely correct no such thing as a ‘59 Meteor Ranchero. Just a Ford with a Meteor grill. I have a ‘57 Meteor Ranchero and have done extensive research. The Meteor Ranchero was dropped in ‘58 due to low demand 300 for ‘57 and only 52 I believe for ‘58.
we just picked up a 58, pretty fricken cool
I literally just passed by this exact car.
I’ll track down exactly what this!
