How much would you pay for 707 horsepower? Dodge thinks you should shell out around 60 grand—the base price for its new 700-horse Challenger SRT Hellcat.
What about the very first 707-horse SRT Hellcat with VIN #0001? Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, paid $825,000 for the first Hellcat at a recent auction in Las Vegas. That’s nearly 14 times the sticker price!
But there’s a catch.
All the money paid for the Stryker Red Challenger will go to Opportunity Vehicle—a charity that aids the intellectually handicapped in the Las Vegas area. You can read more about the auction, the charity, and the car at the SRT blog.

All these auctions, The rich guy wins again, if it goes to a charity its tax deductible. I’m glad they got the money. But who gets the car? Mr Hendrick? At a much lower cost after he deducts it from his taxes I am no where near that amount of money that I could even think about bidding on any cars nowadays. I’m sure I’m not alone in this. The little guy is getting blown away by these guys that buy a car, put them away for 15 or 20 years and then sell them to another billionaire so he can store it maybe longer. As you can tell I’m upset about this. Wonder why?
