When the Ford Shelby GT350R was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, it was billed as Ford’s answer to the Camaro Z/28. According to multiple sources, it lived up to that billing in a recent lap around the legendary Nurburgring track in Germany—and then some.
According to unconfirmed sources, the GT350R has reportedly recorded a 7:32.19 lap time approximately one year after the Z/28 clocked a lap time of 7:37.47 seconds on the track. That puts it in the same league with cars like the Ferrari Italia 458 and Nissan GT-R, according to Autoblog.

And you can expect Chevrolet to have an answer to Shelby’s impressive lap time soon once it unveils its new Camaro for 2016.
