Bracket-2015-rd-3

The Boss? Gone. The Judge? History. The Hellcat? Melba Toast.

We included late-model vehicles in this year’s installment of Muscle-Car Match-Ups, but it didn’t take you long to rid the tournament bracket of them, including the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which some believed would win this entire tournament.

Of the eight cars remaining in the tournament, all but one represent the model years 1969 or 1970, and the anomaly is the 1965 Shelby Cobra, which won Muscle Car Match-Ups in 2013.

We’re down to four match-ups. They’re all amazing.

If you don’t know the rules, you should read this post. If you do? It’s time to pick the Final Four.

(1) 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 vs. (3) 1969 Chevrolet Yenko 427 Nova

69-Camaro-vs-69-NovaChevy fans be like: “An impossible choice!” We’re looking at two rarified 1969 classic Chevys. The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 ran past the ’70 AMC Rebel and the ’68 ½ Cobra Jet Mustang to get here. The 1969 Chevrolet Yenko 427 Nova (the defending Muscle Car Match-Ups champion) defeated the much-loved (and rightfully feared) ’68 HEMI Dart to get here.

One iconic ’69 Chevy goes on. One goes home. You choose which.

(1) 1970 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda vs. (2) 1970 Chevrolet 454 Chevelle SS

70-Cuda-vs-70-ChevelleThe 1970 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda has been in the Final Four of each of the first two years of Muscle Car Match-Ups. Will it make it to a third? In its path is another iconic 70s muscle car—the 1970 Chevrolet 454 Chevelle SS. Two titans. But one must fall.

(1) 1969 Dodge Charger R/T vs. (3) 1970 Buick GSX

69-Charger-vs-70-GSXIn our second Mopar vs. GM match-up of Round 3, the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T (which has been running through GMs left and right, including the ’61 Impala and the ’68 Hurst/Olds) faces off against the 1970 Buick GSX which, using old-world magic in the form of a 455-cubic-inch big block engine, seems likely to be a tougher out. Who goes home? It’s up to you.

(4) 1970 Plymouth Superbird vs. (2) 1965 Shelby Cobra 427

65-Cobra-vs-70-SuperbirdThe two most unique cars in our tournament face off for the chance to race in the Final Four. The 1970 Plymouth Superbird—a Mopar built for NASCAR domination (successfully) which became one of the most valuable American muscle car collectibles of all time—goes up against the first-ever winner of this tournament, the 1965 Shelby Cobra 427. Go ahead and tell us again how the Cobra isn’t really a muscle car. This assassin just keeps winning and winning and winning. Can it beat the Superbird?

We can’t wait to find out.
