We have to hand it to Mopar enthusiasts.
The Mopar crowd is arguably the most vocal, most passionate group of people in the hot rodding community. So it wasn’t much of a surprise when this group responded to our recent Chevrolet crate engine guide with:
“Where’s the crate engine guide for Mopars?”
Ask and you shall receive. We’ve put together some of our favorite crate engines for Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler vehicles and other custom hot rods.

Will the 360-290hp engine bolt to a 904 auto trans
Yes
Can I get it with fuel injection.
I was wanting to put a holly avenger 550-400 on it and didn’t know if I would have to pay for a carb I would never use.
I’m not good with carbs and want something I can turn the key and just drive.Im tired of driving for a few hours and then searching months for some stupid off the wall amc part .
I would also need a drive system with a altanator and power steering if you have any info on that I would appreciate it I believe I have found it but on summit but would respect you opinion. Thank You.
Same old story…put ‘HEMI’ in front of it and double the price.
I have a 1964 Plymouth Fury with a 318 that have low compression in cylinder 1 3 5 & 7, I’M THINKING ABOUT PUTTING A 360 or 408 in it.
Give me your take on this.
Other than voiding originality of the car, this would be a great move. The early 318 motors were not desirable and the aftermarket has virtually no parts for them. A 408 stroker would be cool!
I also have a 64 fury with a 318, if you’ve put in a new engine, please share which engine and how it went, would love to hear about it.
I have a phoenix 64. With 727 box. Will the 360 fit
Will a stock 360 cam work in my 408
Can the 360 engine replace the 340, auto (727) as a drop in engine.? Knowing the exhaust must be replaced. What other parts will be needed?
As long as it isn’t a Magnum Motor, they have the same dimensions outwardly! Drop in proposition! Kinda like a small Chev 350 and 400! Thanks for reading!
I have a 96 dodge 1500 with a 318 . What bigger engine could I got with that would fit and not have to change the trans.
will a 360 go in a Dakota where a 3.9 was without too much problems
is Mopar Performance 426 8.7:1 still available?
Well this 360 bolt on to my 727 transmission in my 65 Plymouth satellite 318 poly motor
