Is Ford going after the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel?

A video posted by the automotive spy photography specialists at SpiedBilde seems to suggest a Ford F-150 diesel is well into the development stage. The truck, which could be available for the 2017 model year, would go head-to-head with the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel — currently the only light-duty diesel pickup on the market. Multiple sources, including OffRoad.com, are hearing the F-150 diesel would make use of the 3.0L V6 from the Jaguar Range Rover. The engine makes 254 horsepower and 443 ft.-lbs. of torque.

You can hear it for yourself in SpiedBilde’s video below:

What are your thoughts on a possible F-150 diesel for 2017?
