A parking lot is a parking lot is a parking lot—unless it’s the Summit Racing parking lot. On any given day or time, the lot outside a Summit Racing store can turn into an impromptu mini car show, depending on who’s stopped by the store. On Wednesdays, we’ll share our parking lot find of the week—another benefit of being Powered by Summit Racing Equipment.

In this season of haunted houses and ghost-hunting, we found the ultimate automotive zombie: a DeSoto. The DeSoto division of Chrysler was founded in 1929 and achieved some success along the way. Eventually, it fell victim to corporate mistakes and other outside circumstances, including the 1958 recession. While other midsize cars were able to weather the economic storm, the DeSoto’s sales plummeted and the line was discontinued in 1961.

Although the DeSoto name now resides on a tombstone in the graveyard of automotive brands, its spirit lives on through cars like this 1929 DeSoto we spotted at the Summit Racing Retail Store in Ohio.
