She also plans to race in NASCAR’s 2018 Daytona 500 that occurs in February.
Patrick rose through the ranks of racing, gaining significant fame during her time in the IndyCar racing series. She successfully jumped to NASCAR in 2012, driving the Stewart-Haas #10 car.
Her career includes an IndyCar win (2008, Japan), and a Pole Position in NASCAR’s Daytona 500.
She is currently 27th in the 2017 Monster Energy Drink NASCAR Cup Series Standings.
According to an Associated Press report, Tears occasionally welled in Patrick’s eyes as she made the announcement Friday afternoon.
Patrick’s interests have expanded well beyond race cars. She currently owns a winery and has her own branded “Warrior” clothing line.
