The folks over at Horsepower Wars are pitting a 2017 Ford Mustang GT against a 2017 Chevy Camaro 2SS in a series of competitive tests that they’re calling the “Pony Wars.”
The goal is to see which car has the edge in stock form, and during progressive stages of performance upgrades.

Now, astute gearheads will immediately realize that it’s not a fair fight from the get go—the Camaro 2SS is a higher trim level than the near-stock Mustang GT. The Bowtie also has a bigger initial price tag.
But the Horsepower Wars team devised an ingenious solution. They took the price differential between the Camaro and Mustang, and used that extra cash to improve upon the GT.
What’s even better, is that they were able to upgrade the Ford in the key areas where the Camaro had the perceived edge.
Now, with both cars being essentially equal, no teams can cry foul in the Pony Wars saga.
