Welcome to the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout.
The concept is simple:
Four teams, 10 days, and $10,000 to build a no-holds-barred drag car that can beat the rest.
Each team gets $3,000 in cash and a $7,000 Summit Racing Gift Card to modify their respective cars with a single goal in mind: being faster down the dragstrip than the other teams.
The winning team of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout challenge will get another $10,000 in cash—and they’ll get to keep the car they built.
In Episode 1, we get introduced to each of the four teams, and get an idea of what approach they’ll take to build a hopeful winner. Every team is stacked with experienced racers, engine builders, and lifelong gearheads.
We also got introduced to the cars: the teams selected from a set of six crusty cars in varying states of repair/disarray that the Horsepower Wars production crew had pulled from some long-forgotten scrapyard.
The car list includes the following vehicles:
- 1966 Ford Falcon
- 1986 Chevy Camaro
- 1995 Chevy Camaro Z28
- 1990 Ford Mustang
- 1984 Buick Regal
- 1986 Ford Mustang GT
A set of Olympics-style physical challenges ensued to determine who got to choose each car.
Some teams left happy…while others were less enthusiastic about their new rides.
The next step is to start modifying. There’s no funny business either—each part used in every team’s build will get a full tech inspection before it’s allowed to be installed.
Which team has the advantage? That’s up for you to decide.

Quite a treat! Should be very impressive
Being a Ford GROUP, of old grease people, why is there no MOPAR IN THIS -LIST IF SIX?
