LAS VEGAS, NV — Meet your new boss.
Mickey Thompson doesn’t mince words when describing their newest off-road tire—the Baja Boss—which the tire maker launched at the 2018 SEMA Show.
“This is the finest mud tire ever built,” says the Baja Boss promotional video playing every 20 minutes outside of Mickey Thompson’s fantastic SEMA booth, where they had 10 tons of sand and live cactus plants brought inside the Las Vegas Convention Center to create the kind of environment their truck tires have long been designed to conquer.
The Baja Boss tires are wicked. The SideBiters™ are 50-percent bigger than those on M/T’s other Baja tires. A 24-inch wheel diameter tire will be available for the first time in company history. Wheel diameters will start at 17-inch for the Boss.
The Baja Boss tires will be available in March 2019.
These new tires are for level and lifted truck applications. The 3-ply side wall features one ply reinforced with a thicker cord for a 150-percent increase in strength, said Robert DeJarnette, Mickey Thompson’s marketing program manager.
The tread pattern features an asymmetrical design, and the silica-based tire compound produces excellent traction and longevity, as well as chip and cut resistance.
The Baja Boss is already DOT-approved, DeJarnette said. The tire’s max psi is 65, he said.
The tire is mean-looking. Mean and awesome and you’ll probably want a set even if you don’t own a vehicle they’ll fit on.
“We called it the Boss for a reason,” DeJarnette said. “This is a premium mud-terrain tire.”
Will a 33×12.50R17 be offered on the Boss tire if not canyou send my the tire sizes that will be offered in a 33inch 17 size tire? Thank you Allan
