While rumors circulated for most of 2021, by last fall the secret was out: Tony Stewart’s now got an NHRA team.
As part of October’s announcement, it was revealed that the team would be fielding two racers: Matt Hagan and Leah Pruett.
But the press release didn’t mention much else, which left a lot of NHRA fans wondering if any sponsorships might realign.
Turns out, both Hagan and Pruett will continue with Dodge//SRT and Mopar for the 2022 season. Dodge just inked the deal with Tony Stewart Racing to be the primary sponsor for both Pruett and Hagan.
The move isn’t surprising—Pruett’s been with Dodge//SRT and Mopar since 2016 and Hagan’s been wearing Dodge stripes since his rookie year back in 2009.
We’ll see Tony Stewart Racing make its NHRA debut at the Winternationals in Pomona, California beginning February 17, as the 2022 NHRA racing season gets underway.
Leah Pruett, as of November 2021 is also Smokes wife. Congratulations and best wishes to the couple!
