In honor of the 10th Anniversary of your <blushing>absolute favorite automotive blog</blushing>, we’ve taken a look back at the previous winners of all our annual Muscle Car Match-Ups and pitted them against each other in a winner-takes-all Tournament of Champions.
And now, after a few weeks of elimination rounds, we’re ready to announce the final championship pairing. So, without any further ado…
1970 Plymouth Superbird vs. 1969 Dodge Charger R/T
Well, it looks like the Mopar-or-Nocar crowd got its wish. It’s an epic B-Body showdown between Plymouth’s big-wing Superbird and Dodge’s textbook musclecar, the Charger R/T.
Neither car needs much explanation here, and their previous wins are all well-deserved. Yet the match up is still an interesting one. The mechanical parts are pretty much the same, as you could get either one with a 426 Hemi and a four-speed. Perhaps the deciding factor here will simply be aesthetic? Do you prefer the nose/wing Superbird combo or the Coke Classic profile of the Charger?
We’ll wait and see how the voting goes.
