By now, you probably know the plan: The Summit Racing folks are upgrading a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited JL to tackle some seriously aggressive trails.
The only catch is, they want to make sure the Wrangler’s everyday drivability won’t suffer.
After all, the goal here is to build a stout off-road rig that’s still practical enough to drop the kids off at soccer practice and pick up the dry cleaning.

While some trail armor was addressed in an earlier episode, in the form of belly pans and skid plates, the Summit Racing Wrangler build plans also include a sturdy set of rock sliders.
Going with a pair of rock sliders from Fishbone Off-Road, these bolt-on parts not only protect the relative soft sheetmetal of the Wrangler’s body, they can offer a supplemental jacking point if need be.
They make it really easy to hop in and out of the lifted Wrangler JL, too.
And as alluded to above, these rock sliders are direct bolt-ons, and you can see the installation process for yourself in this installment of Summit Racing’s Project Jeep Wrangler build series below.
