To the collective delight of Mustang fans everywhere, the Blue Oval brought back the legendary 5.0L designation in 2011 when it launched the new 32-valve DOHC V8 5.0L Coyote V8 engine.
Born from the Modular Motor family, the new 5.0L Coyote powerplant settled nicely into its S197 Ford Mustang home—but not for long, as the new 6th-generation Mustang was waiting in the wings. And when the new S550 era was unleashed in 2015, the new Mustang generation brought an updated version of the Coyote 5.0L with it.
