When it was announced that the S197 Ford Mustang was getting a new 5.0L “Coyote” V8 way back in 2011, the gearhead collective jumped for joy. Born from Ford’s Modular Motor family, the 5.0L Coyote engine brought back the legendary 5.0L designation—along with plenty of performance.
But Ford didn’t bask in the new Coyote’s praise. Nope, Blue Oval engineers stayed at their drafting tables and pretty soon the Mustang got a new version of the Coyote for its upcoming sixth-generation S550 era. And just a bit later, the 5.0L Coyote got its third update for the 2018 Mustang GT. The third-gen Coyote 5.0L arrived with direct injection, a revised cam profile, and a host of other tweaks.
That third-gen 5.0L Ford Coyote “Car” V8 is the one we’re talking about in this spec guide. (Notice the word car there too, because the 5.0L Coyote V8 engines found in Ford trucks are distinct—yet follow a similar development arc.)

no one can find volume lbs/ppmin/cc/ etc of direct injection system. are there actual injectors there or some voodo magic. (upgradeable?) I am aware of the blending technology at work.
However, upgrades to volume are still done the old fashioned way – BIGGER injectors.
Puzzled !!!
Thanks
Jimmy
Comparing these specs with the 18-up Mustang is there really that much power difference? Same compression, cam and throttle body.
That is comparing F150 specs to Mustang 3rd gen for both
It is not a 302 cubic inch as you stated…Its a 307
This is nothe the old Ford 302 they had from the 60’s to 1995.
