No offense to Vanilla Ice, but with that one extra syllable, “Rolling in My Seven Point Oh” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
And we’re totally OK with that—so is Andrew Schenk, the builder of this fabulous Fox.
Working for one of our favorite performance suspension companies, RideTech, Andrew’s been a gearhead for as long as he can remember. But despite owning plenty of cool rides in the past, one car has always eluded him:
“My dad had a 1985 Mustang GT, but my mom wouldn’t let me have that car,” Andrew laughs. “I’ve always wanted one, so I finally found it.”
While that was probably wise maternal judgement on mom’s part regarding her teenage driver—now that he’s all grown up, Andrew had enough pent-up excitement to throw a catalog of performance parts at his new-to-him GT.
…So that’s exactly what he did.
“It’s a 427 small block Ford, based on a 351 Windsor, all aftermarket, and it has the TorqStorm twin superchargers on it,” he explains.
Given Andrew’s employer, you can be sure that lots of RideTech suspension parts keep the Mustang planted on terra firma too. “It uses a RideTech Air Suspension. And Ridetech’s got a new short/long arm suspension system that deletes the McPherson strut for the Fox Body.”
Out back, is a narrowed Ford 9 inch and a set of RideTech Shockwave air shocks.
Cosmetically, Andrew put in the work to create the *just right* Mustang for his taste, choosing parts from all over the entire Fox Body production run to make it perfect.
“There’s a ton of period correct Fox Body parts on my car. There’s a ’93 Cobra spoiler, seats from an ’85 SVO, the later style hatch panel that wasn’t available in 1986,” he tells us.
“I made it my own.”
Now that it’s built, Andrew can finally say he’s got a Mustang. There’s only one catch…
“I haven’t had time to enjoy it yet,” he jokes. “I’m a busy guy, working full time with a wife and three kids at home. And it’s almost winter!”
But with a sly smile and nod, Andrew makes it clear that it’s only a matter of time before his Mustang gets out of the corral.
…After all, he’s only had to wait since his teenage years to enjoy his “perfect” Fox Body.
What is the name of that blue
Hey Jordan, we reached out to Andrew and here’s what he told us. “The paint is custom and has some really cool color changing properties. Black base, heavy blue Pearl to give it the blue hue.”
