After months of nail biting around the desks here at OnAllCylinders, we finally got our first look at the all-new 2025 Corvette ZR1.
And folks, it’s bringing the goods.
What goods? How about a 5.5 liter twin-turbocharged LT7 V8 with a flat-plane crank that makes 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb.-ft. of torque. In case you were wondering—yeah, that makes this the most powerful production Corvette. Ever. Chevrolet engineers also say the new ZR1 will go under 10 seconds in the quarter-mile and exceed 212 miles-per-hour.
For folks expecting an AWD or hybrid setup, power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels and there are no electric motors in sight.
Wrapped around that all-new powerplant is new aerodynamic bodywork fore and aft, that includes (GASP!) a split rear engine cover reminiscent of the stunning 1963 C2 Corvette Sting Ray. Though the ZR1 already comes with a complement of carbon fiber aero enhancements, there’s also an optional ZTK “Track Attack” package that adds an even larger rear wing and hood flap that helps divert air over the ZR1’s front-mount intercooler system.
Massive carbon-ceramic brakes are found at all four corners and the ZR1 rolls on wheels unique to the ZR1 package.
This car should only be sold to drivers that can pass a test on ability that drive it !!!
Clutch?
Hello Bob, the Corvette C8 ZR1 uses an 8 speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic transmission derived from the earlier C8 models, enhanced with stronger components to handle the additional power and high speed driving environments.
Thanks for the article, very interesting article
