It’s no secret that an external oil cooler is a great way to mitigate excessive engine temperatures to enhance the life of both your motor oil and your engine.

Problem is, installing one can be kind of a pain—depending on your vehicle, it could mean drilling into an oil passage, cutting oil lines, or tapping a fitting.

That’s why these oil cooler filter sandwich adapters from Vibrant Performance are so appealing.

As the name implies, the new filter base threads onto the stock oil filter location (several thread adapters are included), and still allow you to run a traditional spin-on type oil filter. The adapters bypass hot oil through a cooling loop to help keep engine oil temperatures under control. As an added bonus, thanks to an integrated 180 degree F thermostat, these adapters also reduce the warm-up period from a cold start—perfect for you folks in northern climates.

The billet aluminum adapters feature -10 AN ORB inlet/outlet ports. From there, you can simply run a set of coolant hoses to/from a standalone oil cooler. They also have integrated 1/8″ NPT ports, if you want to install oil temperature or pressure senders as well.

The adapters are indexable and clockable, so you can orient them in the best position for your engine. And the kits come with five different oil filter thread adapters to match your specific vehicle application as well: M18 x 1.5, M20 x 1.5, M22 x 1.5, 3/4″-16 and 13/16″-16.

Best of all, to ensure the filter adapters won’t wiggle loose over time, Vibrant Performance uses a mechanical tab-lock washer to keep the adapter secure.
