We’re admittedly biased towards older vehicles when it comes to our regular Lot Shots features.
But when an incredible late model Bronco pulls into the Summit Racing Retail Store wearing the O.G. model’s chrome hubcaps, we’ll gleefully buck the trend.
We’re pretty sure this rig started off as one of Ford’s delightful “Bronco Heritage Edition” models anyway, but the owner has cranked the dial on the wayback machine to 11 with some extra throwback mods.
After those amazing original hubcaps, the first thing you’ll notice is that row of KC HiLiTES off road lights—instant trail cred for a 4×4 of any flavor. It looks like the Gravity LED Pro6 Light Bar Kit, if we’re not mistaken, and it is capped off with the iconic old-school smiley face covers.
…And are those Ford Performance tow hooks up front (and maybe out back), too?
The truck’s stance hints at a modest lift/leveling kit and we’re big fans of the large CB whip and nostalgic tire cover on the rear.
Those look like Oracle Flush-Mount Taillights too.
And while the Heritage Editions came from the factory with some throwback trim, it appears that there might be some additional retro-style Ford Performance Bronco script emblems swapped on here as well.
But for us, the Pièce de Résistance here is the Bronco’s incredible portal doors.
Ford teased us with similar donut door designs early in the Bronco’s pre-release press media, but summarily killed them off as the Bronco reveal date neared. While we’re not 100 percent sure here, those look like the Halo doors made by Anderson Composites and they’re very similar to the unobtanium portal doors from the Blue Oval.
Regardless, they’re probably really handy for spotting obstacles on the trails and, if you squint a bit, they’re slyly reminiscent of the “Roadster” doors on the original Bronco.
The rig’s interior looks mostly stock and we’re in love with the retro-styled seat fabric and color-keyed dash.
A patriotic safari-style top completes the look here.
It’s tough to blend a retro aesthetic with a modern vehicle, but this Bronco pulls it off in stunning fashion.
And we’re really hoping we see this one again with its full hardtop on.
