Inspired by Southern California surf culture, Toyota’s new 4Runner TRD Surf Concept is making huge waves at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Rocking a throwback removable roof and rad, 80s-inspired color palette, Toyota’s latest concept vehicle was built to combine the “rugged, open-air spirit of the first-generation 4Runner with the cutting-edge technology and design of the all-new 2025 4Runner,” the company said in a press release.
Like the 4Runner TRD Limited it started out as, the Surf Concept is powered by Toyota’s iForce 2.4L turbocharged engine, which is capable of delivering 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque through the paired eight-speed automatic transmission.
Other features include a full-time, four-wheel drive system; custom exhaust; long-travel suspension with billet aluminum front upper and lower A-arms; a bevy of steering upgrades; custom front axles with 37-inch tires mounted to custom wheels at each corner; a front passenger seat that flips forward for easy rear seating access; waterproofed interior; and—of course—a removable top.
