Before we dive in, we want to give the fine folks at QA1 suspension a hearty congratulations for being crowned the 2024 SEMA Manufacturer of the Year—it’s quite the honor and definitely well deserved!

With that out of the way, we’re big fans of third-gen. Camaros and Firebirds around these parts and it’s no secret that they’re often hidden behind a Fox-shaped shadow when talking about 1980s domestic performance cars.

So any time we hear of a company bringing performance upgrade parts to the third-generation F-body platform, our ears perk up.

And that’s precisely what the QA1 folks brought to the 2024 SEMA Show. With a full chassis mockup in their booth, it was tough not to be impressed with the array of chassis and suspension parts they offer for the humble 1982-92 Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird.

But we really like how QA1 bundles them together in comprehensive kits that include everything you need to up the handling ante in your F-Body.

That’s because, when it comes to suspension performance, it’s really (like, REALLY!) important to make sure your individual components will work together and play nice in your chassis. So having the QA1 suspension experts create a perfectly matched complement of suspension parts will dramatically improve both the performance and predictability of your Camaro or Firebird’s handling—without any surprises.

  • QA1-HK43-GMF3 – Level 3 Full Vehicle Handling Kit for 1982-92 Camaro/Firebird

QA1 Level 1 Full Vehicle Handling Kit

The Level 1 Kit is for dipping your toe in the handling waters. The kit includes a set four adjustable coilovers, an adjustable panhard bar, front sway bar, steering brace, adjustable lower trailing arms with relocation brackets, an adjustable torque arm, and a thrust bearing kit.

This kit bolts right in place with no other modifications necessary.

QA1 Level 2 Full Vehicle Handling Kit

If you hit up an occasional track day or autocross event, but would still like your Camaro/Firebird to be a practical daily driver, the Level 2 kit is what you want. It essentially contains the stuff from the Level 1 kit, but also includes more advanced suspension upgrade parts like subframe connectors, strut tower brace, caster/camber plates, bump steer kit, and an entire front K-member.

QA1 Level 2 Full Vehicle Handling Kit

Yowza—now we’re talking. The Level 3 kit is intended for competitive performance situations, like what you’d want on a dedicated race car. It basically takes all the parts from the Level 1 and 2 Kits, and swaps them out for more performance-oriented upgraded components.

Each Kit Allows for Customization

Depending on the kit you go with, you’ll also want some other parts like engine mounts, a tunnel-mount torque arm upgrade, driveshaft safety loop, etc., and the QA1 folks allow you to buy parts à la carte to suit your current configuration and specific needs.

That also means you can buy each component separately and upgrade in stages, adding QA1 suspension products as your driving style (or build budget) evolves.

So whether you’re looking to just make your Camaro or Firebird a bit more fun to drive—or you’re going Fox hunting at your next track day—the QA1 suspension folks can help you do it.
