Our pals over at AB Motorsports have some exciting news: This season, Angelle Sampey will race in a Top Alcohol Dragster (TAD) fitted with a canopy.

Boasting improved safety characteristics when compared to an open cockpit, the modern dragster canopy was introduced over a decade ago in the Top Fuel class, and AB Motorsports team owner and Top Fuel driver Antron Brown was one of its earliest adopters.

Now the NHRA has approved the canopy design for the Top Alcohol class—and that enclosed cabin is exactly where veteran driver Angelle Sampey will be seated as she begins another NHRA campaign.

Sampey, a three-time champ in Pro Stock Motorcycle recently pivoted to four wheels—where she picked up her first career win in A/Fuel at last year’s Pep Boys Nationals.

You can see the debut of Angelle Sampey’s AB Motorsports enclosed TAD car at the 2025 NHRA Gatornationals, March 6 through 9 at Gainesville Raceway, in Florida. (And team owner Antron Brown will be racing to defend his 2024 Top Fuel Championship there too.)

Good luck to Angelle Sampey, AB Motorsports, and the rest of the NHRA competitors as the upcoming season is set to begin soon!
