A while back we introduced you to the Summit Racing™ LED Power Station and outlined its almost-miraculous ability to declutter your workbench with lots of outlets, built-in LED lights, and a handy cell phone holder. Our pal KJ Jones learned about the LED Power Station and decided one would be perfect in his race car trailer.

It turns out he was right.

KJ recently rehabbed his 28-foot enclosed trailer with new storage cabinets and a Summit Racing Portable Refrigerator/Freezer to keep his wholesome snacks nice and cold. KJ also rewired the trailer with 110-volt household and 12-volt electrical systems.

The 110 system is powered by an onboard generator, but KJ got creative with the 12-volt system by powering it with a Cascadia 4×4 VSS Solar Panel Kit. It’s a pretty slick setup that collects solar energy and feeds it to the 12-volt batteries to power lights, winches, power inverters, and other accessories.

We covered the install (with video) in this story—check it out.

Summit Racing LED Power Station
Here’s the Summit Racing LED Power Station mounted on the back wall of the work bench in KJ Jones’ race trailer. It replaces the white six-outlet power strip with ten 110-volt outlets, two USB ports, and two pivoting LED lights that put out 1,000 lumens of illumination. The LED Power Station also has safety features like a 15-amp resettable circuit breaker, surge protection, and individual on/off switches for the outlets and the lights. That can help protect a race trailer from damage due to an electrical meltdown. (Image/KJ Jones)

However, things were a little sparse when it came to 110-volt power outlets for the trailer’s workbench. KJ had a little six-outlet household power strip for charging cordless tool batteries and such, but it lacked a circuit breaker and surge protection.

The Summit Racing LED Power Station has both of those features to protect anything you plug in from melting down. In a small space like a race trailer filled with batteries, race fuel, and other combustibles, the additional electrical protection is a plus.

Summit Racing Portable Refrigerator Freezer
When you get tired of lugging around coolers full of ice (and the dreaded ‘cooler water’ draining ritual), do what KJ did and get this Summit Racing™ Portable Refrigerator/Freezer. It has 55 liters of interior space and runs on either 12-volt DC or 110-volt AC power. It also has electronic temperature control so you can set the fridge from 55 degrees to a bone-chilling -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Other features include a high-efficiency DC inverter compressor and an intelligent 12-volt battery protection system. (Image/Summit Racing)

KJ got his LED Power Station up and running in about 15 minute, including making a template so it sits nice and level on the wall. As he explains in this install video on Summit Racing’s YouTube channel, it works a treat—so much so that he’s getting a couple for his home shop too.

That’s a ringing endorsement if we ever heard one.
