A regular Rite of Spring for Jeep Wrangler owners is to pop off the doors and enjoy some open-air driving.

Problem is, when you do that, you’re also removing your side mirrors too—because that’s where the mirrors are attached.

And for much of the United States*, driving without side mirrors is a big no-no.

* The laws between the States—and certainly the laws in other countries—aren’t always consistent. It’s good practice to always check your state and local laws before doing any modifications to your vehicle.

The good news is, plenty of companies make Jeep Wrangler Mirror Relocation Brackets that let you move your mirrors to the Jeep’s body, like the old Jeep CJs did decades ago.

Thanks to a handy nuance with many state laws, as long as you’ve got your mirrors, your Jeep is now once again street legal—doors or no doors.

Alternatively, some Jeep owners also use small shorty mirrors that drop into the existing door hinge or a small interior bracket. Though this is an easy switch, the drawbacks here are the mirrors are often small with limited visibility, and you usually have remove these before you re-install your doors. (Image/OnAllCylinders)

Available for pretty much all Jeep Wrangler models, including the YJ, TJ, and JK, these mirror relocation brackets are typically permanent upgrades, which means you can pop your doors off and on whenever you want, without fiddling with any extra steps.

Some manufacturers also offer simpler mirror/stalk assemblies that drop right into your existing door hinge pins—like these Jeep mirrors from Kentrol.

All told, if you want to go doorless in your Jeep Wrangler and want to avoid any unpleasant run-ins with authorities, an easy-to-install set of mirror relocation brackets for your Jeep can save you a lot of hassle.
