News from Hollywood trickled out earlier this month that John Carpenter’s classic horror movie adaptation “Christine” is getting a remake.
Based on a novel by Steven King, “Christine” is essentially a love story about a young man and his possessed 1958 Plymouth Fury that occasionally murders some people.
And while rumors say that the new film will still take place sometime around 1980, we started thinking about all the vehicular possibilities if the remake has a more contemporary setting.
So we came up with a list of five solid choices for a “new” Christine if they decide to do a major reboot and set the film in 2021.

5 Cars That Should Play a Modern Christine

5. 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT-8
If Christine is set anytime in the 21st century, Arnie should really be driving some sort of crossover or SUV. While we wince a bit at the thought of Christine being a grocery getter, we do think a Dodge Magnum SRT-8 would be a solid compromise. Staying in the Mopar family, the Hemi-powered SRT-8 won’t have any trouble avoiding a slow-moving bulldozer (or a septic truck, if ya read the book).

4. 1996 General Motors EV1
OK, hear us out: Sometimes the best way to revive such a well-known character is to completely reinvent the role—just look at how many radically different iterations we’ve seen of Batman and Joker. And we couldn’t think of a bigger 180° than to go from a rip-snortin’ V8 to battery power. As an added bonus, without her sinister exhaust rumble, it’ll be easier for Christine to sneak-up on her victims.

3. 2001 Plymouth Prowler
In the book, Christine was originally set in 1978, which meant that a 1958 Fury was 20 years old at the time. So it makes sense that if the remake is set in the present day, then the car should be from 2001. And if we’re sticking with Plymouth, then our options in 2001 were either the Neon, Breeze, Voyager, or the Prowler. So we went with the aptly-named Prowler here.

2. 1967 Chevy Camaro
Christine’s main antagonist is the school bully Buddy Repperton. In addition to picking on Arnie, he leads a gang that trashes Christine with sledgehammers. As you’d imagine, that was a mistake—and Christine not only gets even with Buddy, she obliterates his 1967 Chevy Camaro too (though in the book, Repperton drove a second-gen). We’re flipping the script here by casting the F-body in Christine’s place.

1. 1958 Plymouth Fury
Remaking Christine with anything other than an autumn red 1958 Plymouth Fury would be like replacing Jaws with a tuna fish. So they darn well better pick a classic Plymouth to fill the role. And while the special effects from Carpenter’s edition have aged pretty well, we’re excited to see some CG Mopar mayhem in the remake. The question remains though: will Christine still have an ear for 1950s bubblegum? Or will “Thriller” be blasting out of her radio this time? (We honestly don’t care as long as the soundtrack has some Carpenter-inspired synthwave goodness.)

Agree with our choices? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
I want to say it should be one of my all time favorites, but the market is already ridiculous and I don’t want to see it get worse.
They should use the 2018 dodge demon!!!
PT cruiser with a hemi under the hood!
It would be a toss up between the camero or the magnum.
What about using a 95 ram 4×4. christines brother seeks revenge.
Christine a truck? Now that’s a cool idea!
1987 IROC Camero
2012 Lincoln MKZ should be on the list I think, just because it can look pretty sinister. The grill almost looks like big teeth anyways.
And there’s precedent too! Remember it was a custom Lincoln used for the horror movie “The Car.” So maybe they’re cousins?
Acho o Mercury 1951 ( Stalone Cobra) também bastante apropriado !!!
VILE IDEA! Lets just remake Trains Planes and Automobiles with Justin Bieber! PUKE!!!!
Keep it in the Chrysler family. 2006-2010 DODGE CHARGER.
Although, the decades aren’t that different anymore.
2000s soundtrack. Diary of Jane etc..
I say Christine should be a Dodge Demon Challenger.
1959 Impala lowrider taking place in 70s,80s or 90s California . Or a Christine prequel back story 1960s.
Wow, I really like the prequel idea. You get a lot more of the Lebay backstory in the book that you could easily translate to a standalone movie!
They should use 2nd Gen Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab, Red, black and Crome! Use this truck for the Christian remake because It has style, personality and the look of evil! These trucks have a face and are the best looking trucks from 1994-2002. If not definitely stay with the original 58 Plymouth fury.
Eather 69 or 70 super bee would be my choice
A power wagon would be a good one.
The Dodge Magnum as it’s a Chrysler, or the Camaro with the storyline of Repperton’s Revenge.
It should be a a dodge neon srt4, car was basically a possessed neon
1966 Mercury Comet Cyclone GT
whatever they pick definitely stay red now I’ve seen the newer mustangs the 2016 and 2018 ones and hell sinister they look now I’m seeing the comments about using your PT cruiser heck deal trucks no and not to mention you have to have something that you can repair on a constant basis if you use a 59 Plymouth fury again or similar car it’s hard to find parts for so yeah you need something with parts of the readily available everywhere now a Dodge demon I’ll go for that but yeah everything for the car to be rebuilt at multiple times when they redo it though it needs to start at the junkyard where was Chris into a cube and a little bit of backstory on creating the new vehicle that Christine possesses next and for other cars a Dodge viper would work for the Plymouth prowler but then again you have to worry about the problem with not enough of them on the road anymore or not enough to repair the car when they need it repaired
Christine remake car ( if it takes place in this decade) should be a 2006-2010 DODGE CHARGER.
The soundtrack should include 99 problems by JAYZ & Ima survivor by bea
Nickelback, disturbed, POD, etc.. should round out the soundtrack.
Original owner would be an Army vet from the Afgan war.
Bought Christine as a discharge present to himself.
A gen x Roland Lebay lol…
my moms car [a 2015 Mitsubishi outlander sport se] its a good contender, its red, it looks evil, it may have a CVT and a 4 banger but hey, the fury only came with 4 speed auto and manual, also its seen a thing or 2 as its the family car.
also, when its getting built it maybe shood be made useing the same metal as Christine, or at least be seen to be possessed by the same spirits
Ok sure make the big American car an SUV from Japan….
Look kid I like the fact that you like your dads car so much but even if it is red its only a few years old
Crappy car anyways.
Mitsubishi… when was the last time they ever made a good car for enthusiasts
the late 90s?
Then again they DID do partnerships with the Chrysler Corp so…
Maybe
