If you thought the NASCAR L.A. Coliseum event last winter was cool, wait until you hear this:
NASCAR is running a Cup Series Points Race on the streets of the Windy City next year.
Yup, NASCAR is heading to Sweet Home Chicago, Illinois as part of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race Weekend of Competition and Entertainment in Downtown Chicago on July 1 and 2, 2023. The NASCAR race will happen on July 2, and will be preceded by an IMSA race on July 1.
This is a first-ever NASCAR Cup Series street course race, and the proposed track layout will have the NASCAR Next Gen Cars racing alongside Lake Michigan, Grant Park, and historic Buckingham Fountain.
Interestingly, this will be the second time Chicago has hosted a NASCAR Cup Series Race, as Soldier Field welcomed stock cars to its track back in 1956.
Tickets for the Chicago race will go on sale later this year.
This is what Chicago wanted all the time since the opening of a Nascar Track in Joliet ! They pushed there cost onto the Nascar lovers in ILLINIOS and surrounding states ! Prices that an average bread winner could not afford ! A three day event cost well over a weeks wages ! Chicago and the new leader of NASCAR just took Nascar away from those can afford to go and watch a race that least afford it! Have you ever went to an event in Chicago , good luck on that ! The track in Joliet will never open again ! And we all know that they will not open Chicago to drag racing downtown! But you never Know ! All the hard work from the people who worked on getting the drag strip built and then Nascar track was built we had it all ! With four different racing venues for VEHICLES ! For us that were there when it all started , it is hard to take !
What is wrong with you guys? This is not what nascar is about!
This just seems like a bad idea to me.
Are you guys our of your frickin minds. You are gonna have at the very minimum 3 drivers shot and at least one commentator seriously wounded and God only knows how many spectators. In case you haven’t heard, that place is an undeclared war zone.
Whose hair brained idea was this. Chicago is an undeclared war zone. You will have at least 3 drivers shot and god only knows how many spectators
