Now that the Ford F-150 Lightning is out in the wild and the Chevy electric Silverado is in production, the gearhead collective anxiously waited to see what Ram would bring to the electric truck table.
And now the wait is over.
Unveiled at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week, the new 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is a big hint at how Ram will rumble into the electric vehicle age.

For starters, the concept features dual electric motors for all-wheel drive capability, connected to four-wheel steering which, Ram says, provides up to 15 degrees of articulation for navigating the truck around a jobsite or parking lot.
Though the press release didn’t contain much in the way of horsepower, torque, or range data, Ram mentions DC fast charging, which it says can add up to 100 miles of range in as little as ten minutes.
Another interesting tidbit: According to the press release, the Ram 1500 Revolution Concept has body-on-frame architecture—which is perhaps a nod to the truck purists out there. And Ram alludes to the platform potentially being shared with other “full-size electric vehicles,” so our fingers are crossed for a modern take on the Ramcharger SUV.
In terms of utility, the 1500 Revolution Concept has “saloon-style” doors that open wide into the passenger cabin.
Oh, and JUMP SEATS!
Yup, the press release explains that the concept truck has a third row of seats that can be removed or repositioned for multiple seating configurations.
Speaking of configurations, the Ram 1500 Revolution Concept also has a powered mid-gate with a removable lower section to increase bed length. In fact, there’s even a pass-through that allows access to the concept’s frunk which, all told, means you can carry something up to 18 feet long with the tailgate closed—perfect for pole vaulters and jousting enthusiasts.
Fancy features aside, we have to remind ourselves that this is still a concept truck. But the Ram press release does say that a production model Ram 1500 battery-electric vehicle (BEV) is already in the works, and we should see it soon (like, in the next few months) before it goes on sale as (presumably) a 2024 model.
