“Poker Runs” are already popular with the motorcycle and boating crowd, and they’re getting increasingly common in the classic car scene too.
What is a Poker Run?
A Poker Run is a friendly competition where you crisscross a region to visit interesting places, meet friendly folks, and pick up random playing cards at each stop.
But a Poker Run is not a race! The goal is to navigate a map to visit every destination and assemble the best poker hand out of the group of competitors. While a Poker Run may be limited to a single day or afternoon, there’s ample time to visit each spot, so there’s no pressure to drive enthusiastically.
More importantly, the competition’s outcome is still largely dependent on the random draw from a deck of playing cards, so there’s no advantage to driving the fastest, prettiest, or most expensive vehicle either.
In other words, it’s fun, friendly way to experience a region or event in a classic car, motorcycle, or otherwise cool ride.
