When Dodge announced the end of the LD/LA Charger and Challenger duo back in 2022, the automotive world was left wondering how Mopar would carry on its performance image.
Well, thanks to both ICE and electric power drivetrain options, we no longer have to wonder.
Though the Charger Daytona SRT concept has been out for a while now, Dodge has just revealed its full plans for the Charger lineup moving forward.
And spoiler alert, you’ve got a smorgasbord of options to nibble on.
EV & ICE: 2024 Dodge Charger Powertrain Configurations
For starters, regardless of what’s under the hood, every new Dodge Charger will feature all wheel drive, standard.
But here’s where it gets really interesting: This new Dodge Charger can be had both as a fully electric vehicle or with a traditional internal combustion engine—and not just any ICE, you can get the new twin-turbo 3.0L Hurricane inline six in front of your right foot.
We’ve talked about the Hurricane six before, so we’ll skip some details here, but when optioned as the aptly-named SIXPACK H.O. it’s cranking out a healthy 550 horsepower. You can also get the Hurricane I6 in SIXPACK S.O. trim that’s good for 420 hp.
For the all-electric versions, Dodge is assigning the name Charger Daytona—and at the top of the EV performance heap is the Charger Daytona Scat Pack. Thanks to its 670 hp drivetrain, Dodge says the Daytona Scat Pack will do zero-to-sixty in 3.3 seconds and rip through the quarter in 11.5 seconds. That’s enough oomph for the Charger to keep its title as the world’s quickest and most powerful muscle car.
Down a rung on the electric ladder is the Charger Daytona R/T. It makes 496 all-electric horsepower.
All electrified Daytona models will get Mopar’s unique “Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust” system that, according to the Mopar folks, delivers “Hellcat levels of sound.” Daytonas also get a nifty “PowerShot” button that delivers an incremental 40 horsepower for 15 seconds—and we’re really, really happy that the concept car’s innovative front nose wing is retained on the production models too.
Wait…2 AND 4 Doors!?!
Perhaps the biggest surprise with the 2024 Charger reveal is the announcement of both two- and four-door models. Indeed, the Charger concept vehicle was a coupe and Mopar had been suspiciously quiet about its more-door aspirations, but with the departure of the current Charger and Challenger, it left a double-door sized hole in the Dodge lineup.
So the Dodge Charger is getting coupe and sedan flavors, and they share a common wheelbase—both underpinned by the new Stellantis “STLA Large” platform. Scat Pack and SIXPACK trims are available on either model.

The best news about all of this, is that Dodge says we’ll start seeing the new 2024 Dodge Chargers in the wild soon. The all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack and 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T will begin production over the summer, while the rest of the line will be rolling into dealerships by 2025.
