POMONA, CA — A familiar face wears the NHRA Pro Stock crown.
Team Summit driver Greg Anderson earned his sixth NHRA Pro Stock championship at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals, defeating teammate Dallas Glenn in a winner-take-all final round. Anderson is now tied for the second-most titles in Pro Stock history.
The champ qualified #1 and then earned victories over Kenny Delco in round one, Cory Reed in round two, and Aaron Stanfield in the third round to set up the final-round clash with Glenn. In the finals, Anderson laid down a run of 6.501 seconds at 211.13 miles-per-hour, besting Glenn’s run of 6.516 seconds.
“This is my sixth and I think it means the most,” Anderson said of his newest championship. “These young kids are trying to push me out the door but I keep dragging my feet because I don’t want to go yet.”
Anderson’s other titles took place in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2010, and 2021.
2024 NHRA Top Fuel Champion
In Top Fuel, Antron Brown earned his fourth championship, but it was his first as a team owner.
Brown qualified 12th and found himself in a round one match-up with Justin Ashley, who had the points lead coming into the weekend. He raced past Ashley with a 3.696-second pass at 331.53 miles-per-hour. Brown then earned victories over Shawn Langdon in round two and Brittany Force in round three to set up a finals showdown with Doug Kalitta, who set the event low ET of 3.640 seconds earlier in the day. Brown’s 3.681-second pass was strong enough to take out Kalitta, who put down a 3.710-second run at 331.94 miles-per-hour.
“This is super special,” Brown said. “I’ve been dreaming about this day since I shared my vision with [late team owner] Don Schumacher about being a team owner,” Brown said. “This team has been resilient. We never quit and we never stop.”
