You spoke. We listened.

When we presented our 10 favorite movie cars about a month ago, we wanted to have some fun and get the conversation started.

And you guys delivered.

Some of you were less than enthused with some of our choices. One passionate reader, Gene S., was particularly disappointed.

Gene offered this: [sic] “if this the ones who did this dos not know moves cars this is B-S…NOT GOOD ONES YOU GOT 3 OUT OF 10 RIGHT!!! DO IT OVER?”

We heard you, Gene!

So we rifled through all the comments on the blog as well as Summit Racing’s Facebook page, calculated the ‘likes’ and came up with a new list of 10 cars—this time, courtesy of you.

Bullitt was on our original list. And it was your #1 movie car. But we’re going to skip any repeats from the first list, of which there were a few. You’ll find the actual Top 10 list as voted on by you at the bottom of this post.

But meanwhile, here are 10 of your favorite movie cars—ever.

The List

1973 Mustang Mach 1 – Eleanor
Gone in 60 Seconds, 1974

Eleanor graced the big screen twice. Once in 1974 in Gone in 60 Seconds and again in 2000 in Gone in Sixty Seconds. She looked good both times.

Your comments:

From Jayson B. – “Eleanor takes it, come on! Greatest stunts ever and still running.”

From Jessie L. – “If you talk Eleanor, I would go with the first one, not that crap from the second one.”

1967 Mustang Shelby Cobra GT 500 – Eleanor
Gone in Sixty Seconds, 2000

The preference between the two Eleanors is probably nothing more than a generational thing. Or a true affinity for Nicholas Cage’s acting abilities. Jessie L. called this car ‘crap.’ We can’t all be right. Or can we?

Your comments:

From Mark W. – “No Shelby GT 500 from Gone in Sixty Seconds? WTF?”

From Lawrence N. – “Eleanor is the greatest Mustang—and car—built.”

1955 Chevy 150
Two-Lane Blacktop

Two-Lane Blacktop is a 1971 film about two dudes drag racing their way across the country in a primer-gray ’55 Chevy. Hard to believe the cat who drove the heck out of that car is more famous for singing this.

Your comments:

From Rick R. – “The ’55 Chevy from Two-Lane Blacktop should be in this list, instead of some that are here…”

From Steven B. – “Two-Lane Blacktop… hands down!”

1970 Dodge Charger R/T
The Fast and the Furious

Released in 2001, The Fast and the Furious spawned a tuner craze among high school and college-aged kids. Lost in all the sport-compact hoopla is the fact that the film, while entertaining, was a total rip off of Point Break.

Whoa.

Your comments:

From Ronald W. – “I’ll take the Fast and the Furious Charger.”

From Shane H. – “The black Charger from The Fast and the Furious is right…”

1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440
The Vanishing Point

The Vanishing Point is a lot like Smokey and the Bandit only with a lot less beer and a lot more Mopar. Colorado to San Francisco, CA in 15 hours? What could go wrong?

Your comments:

From Jackie O. – “1970 Challenger from Vanishing Point!!!!!!!!!!!”

From Gary H. – “I personally love the Challenger on Vanishing Point!”

1958 Plymouth Fury
Christine

Should we be worried about you guys? This bad girl murdered people. But we admit it: She looks really good when she’s not on fire or totally beat to hell.

Your comments:

John S. – “Christine… couldn’t be beat!! Only that damn loader!!”

Shizzle F. – “You can’t not love Christine.”

1973 Ford Falcon GT
Mad Max

Before Mel Gibson got famous for more than just his acting and filmmaking talents, he was headlining some pretty sweet movies in the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. Mad Max was one of them. But you guys remembered the car.

Your comments:

Morgan M. – “… and Mad Max are awesome car movies! ‘Nuff said.”

1972 Ford Gran Torino
Gran Torino

Pop quiz: Can you name a guy who’s been as awesome, and for as long, as Clint Eastwood has? Ha! Trick question. There isn’t one.

Your comments:

Georgiann S. – “Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino.”

2007 Chevrolet Camaro concept – Bumblebee
Transformers

For many, the 2007 live-action version of Transformers was the first time they laid eyes on the fifth-generation Chevy Camaro which wasn’t offered to the public until the 2010 model year. That scene left an impression on everyone excited about this era of retro-styled American muscle cars.

Your comments:

From Amber C. – “What about Bumblebee?”

1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stringray
Corvette Summer

Corvette Summer is the perfect movie for those wondering what Mark Hamill did when he wasn’t playing Luke Skywalker or doing this. They gave this Corvette a right-hand steering wheel—which totally makes sense to exactly no one.

Your comments:

James S. – “Corvette Summer when it’s the candy red!”

Martin B. – “Corvette Summer… :-D”

As promised, here are the Top 10 movie cars of all time as unscientifically voted on by your Facebook comments:

  1. 1968 Mustang GT 390, Bullitt
  2. 1973 Mustang Mach-1 and 1967 Shelby Cobra GT 500, Eleanor, Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) and Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000)
  3. 1955 Chevy, Two-Lane Blacktop
  4. 1955 Chevy, American Graffiti
  5. 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, The Fast and the Furious
  6. 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440, Vanishing Point
  7. 1932 Ford Deuce Coupe, American Graffiti
  8. 1958 Plymouth Fury, Christine
