Now, let’s have a look at how to identify each of the second generation of the popular C/K family of Chevy trucks.

Which sheetmetal design group was responsible for the pickups? Was the truck group who also did the medium duty,heavy duty, bus or the auto guys and the truck group adapted to there use? As I am sure you know that pick up and med duty Shared the cab, door and all operating accesories Just curios because the truck have the same Vibe as the cars of that age but remain distinctive.
Fisher Body Division did the design.
Flint Metal Fab. Producued most of the Cab sheet metals.
Indianapolis produced all of the box sheet metal.
Flint Assembly ( and several others ) Line No.1 produced them ?

As the second owner of a 1971 C10 Cheyenne for 44 yrs., as of 8-10-20, I would like to add it is a small but noteworthy difference when attempting to visually differentiate between the 1971 & 1972 year models. On all truck Catagories having interchangeable doors, there was a strengthening of the inner and outer door shell halves requiring a recessed, oval Phillips head, countersunk chrome plate SCREW, at the forward end of the window opening, just below the rear edge of the vent window. Only the 1972 came with it. However to make it MORE CONFUSING than my description, because they ARE interchangeable, older models could have the newer design, or visa versa, but it was only produced FOR the 1972 model year.
