A parking lot is a parking lot is a parking lot—unless it’s the Summit Racing parking lot. On any given day or time, the lot outside a Summit Racing store can turn into an impromptu mini car show, depending on who’s stopped by the store. On Wednesdays, we’ll share our parking lot find of the week—another benefit of being Powered by Summit Racing Equipment.
For some reason, we think of this 1951 Dodge B-Series pickup as Christmas on wheels.
If he wasn’t already driving a reindeer-powered sleigh (which gets incredible gas mileage, we hear), we could see Saint Nick tooling around in this bright red ’51 Dodge pickup. Or we could envision a 1950s-era American family using it to haul home a fresh-cut tree in some Rockwell-ian painting. But alas, this particular B-series appears to have a keg in the bed.
Christmas Ale, anyone?
Truth is the Dodge B-series really is an American classic. The B-series, which lasted from 1948-53, was the first post-war truck series introduced by Dodge. It may be best known for its “Pilot-House” cab, which was higher and more spacious than previous designs with more windows for better visibility. Although the Ford F-series and Chevy 3100-series pickups seem to be a little more prevalent in these parts, the venerable Dodge B-series remains a popular choice among collectors.
Aside from the keg in back, this specific B-series has a unique personality of its own, including a modified front grille, RAM badging, and that keg-style fuel tank. Scroll through the slideshow for a closer look and tell us if the truck’s owner lands on your naughty or nice list.
Sweet!
