Rumors have been swirling about a new Ford Bronco and Ranger for a couple years now.
Bill Johnson, chairman of UAW Local 900, has now essentially confirmed the return of the two popular models in an interview with the Detroit Free Press. While responding to Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s criticism of Ford for moving Ford C-Max and Focus production to Mexico, Johnson said:
“We hate to see the products go to Mexico, but with the Ranger and the Bronco coming to Michigan Assembly, that absolutely secures the future for our people a lot more than the Focus does.”
The new Ford Bronco is expected to compete with the Jeep Wrangler; the Ranger will go head-to-head with the midsize Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon.
