Is Detroit ready for a rebirth?
For one day, at least, the Motor City experienced a renaissance when Buddy Jordan’s 1933 Ford roadster won the prestigious Ridler Award at the 65th Detroit AutoRama. Named the “Renaissance Roadster,” the ’33 Ford is a product of Steve’s Auto Restoration in Portland, OR. The roadster beat out seven other incredible finalists from the Detroit AutoRama Great 8.
The Renaissance Roadster was built on a frame made from hand-formed 3/16-inch steel and 1 1/2-inch-diameter chromoly tubing. Nearly everything on the roadster was handmade, including the custom independent front suspension. The Ford also has an independent rear suspension with a highly modified Mustang IRS third member. Under the hood, an anniversary edition Chevy 427 features a custom EFI tri-power setup and custom stainless-steel exhaust system. A 4L60 transmission sends power to the rear via a tapered aluminum driveshaft.
You can get a closer look at the award-winning ’33 roadster below.
We’d also encourage you to check out Street Rodder magazine’s write-up and video for more details. Because there are a lot of details to see.
