Advanced Fuel Dynamics’ PROFLEX Commander Flex Fuel System is a plug-and-play, bolt-on kit that lets you run E85 in your late-model vehicle.

The performance potential of ethanol-blended fuel is well documented. In fact, Advanced Fuel Dynamics has an entire page of dyno results for various vehicles running its PROFLEX Commander system—most demonstrate significant double-digit horsepower improvements over the baseline runs.

The PROFLEX Commander Flex Fuel System is essentially an automatic, dynamic ECU tune that will constantly adapt to the mix of ethanol in your tank. That means you’re not locked-in to running E85. With the PROFLEX system, you can run E85, regular gasoline, or any ethanol-gasoline blend in between.

It won’t affect your engine’s existing tune, either.

Depending on the application, these systems consist of a the PROFLEX Commander unit, specialized flex fuel sensor with fuel lines and fittings, plus a plug-and-play wiring harness.

The sensor installs between your fuel rail and your fuel line coming from the tank. All the hoses and fittings you’ll need to install the sensor are included as well.

The wiring harness has for main loom runs, two go to either side of the engine and plug in to the fuel injectors and PROFLEX Commander unit. The system “intercepts” the original signal going to the injector and re-routes it to the Commander unit, where it alters the signal before sending it on to the injector.

While most systems are designed to run with the vehicle’s stock fuel pump and injectors, certain applications may require further fuel system upgrades.

More importantly, most vehicles made after 1980 feature fuel hoses, pumps, and related components designed to handle ethanol-blended fuels, so you shouldn’t have to worry about the negative effects ethanol can have on older fuel systems.

As alluded to above, the systems are vehicle-specific. They will work with both stock and modified vehicles.

Some popular applications currently available include the 2011-17 Ford Mustang V8 and 1997-2004 Corvette 5.7L LS1.
