Texas-based Hennessey Special Vehicles just dropped the proverbial mic with its Venom F5 supercar.

Packing a 1,817 horsepower 6.6L twin turbo V8, it’s the most powerful production car ever made. Hennessey tells us the Venom F5 can blast to 124 mph in a stopwatch-melting 4.7 seconds.

But that’s not the best part. Hennessey is targeting a 311 mph top speed. To back it up, the Hennessey Venom F5 is set for an independently-verified speed run at the NASA Shuttle Landing Facility in Florida in 2021. Hennessey is also planning to bring the Venom F5 to the Circuit of The Americas for some more performance verification.

The rear-wheel drive Venom F5 weighs a shade under 3,000 pounds. Nestled in the rear-mid of its carbon fiber monocoque is a hand-built, iron block, aluminum head 6.6L V8 making 277 horsepower PER LITER. (Yeah, that’s the highest of any road car ever made.) Complementing that 1,817 HP, the twin-turbocharged monster makes 1,193 lb.-ft. of torque at 5,500 rpm.

That power is fed through a single-clutch, semi-automatic paddle-shifted CIMA gearbox with seven ratios, carefully selected to blend real-world drivability with enough wind-out to hit that lofty 300+ mph speed goal.

Starting base price is $2.1 million and you better start flipping the couch cushions now—Hennessey is limiting production to just 24 cars worldwide.
